The overall goal of my project is to provide lens for social issues such as mental illness and sex worker's rights using art/social media. It is an interactive blog where guests can share their personal opinions and provide commentary on the artwork and the way it is integrated into furthering the spotlight on such issues. The blog(s) will exist as a crucial platform for furthering education and awareness across numerous social issues related to art. The issues I decided to focus on (for now) will be Art Therapy and the Sex Worker's Rights Movement.
Both blogs will act as controversial and debatable tools for various moral and political landscapes. The blog will be devoted to presenting both news media and art media that will help advocate and stimulate proper discussion.
I will continue to develop both blogs (links provided) after this semester so that they can become a platform for discussion and awareness.
ARTANDGENIUS - For my semester project, I decided to devote Tumblr Blog to introduce and legitimize the efforts of Art Therapy across environments and communities to address various mental health issues including depression, bipolar disorder and PTSD.
Sex Worker's Rights??? - The sex worker's rights blog is dedicated to the Sex Worker's Rights Movement that was established following stigmatization and criminalization of the industry. Most people think of sex workers as whores, prostitutes, and undesirable occupations that seek to serve patriarchy and structural oppression. The men and women who seek to decriminalize the act would argue otherwise.....
