Extra Credit: Judy Chicago: The Dinner Party

The Dinner Party comes to us a focus around which the feminist art is organized (Chicago). Sackler shows that there is a triangular table arrangement which comprised of various place settings which represented some of the prominent women in the history. Chicago fashioned a rich body of work that sought after to adjoin women to the momentous record and, more in general, to boost their depiction in the visual arts. She did this through her creation works that acknowledged the accomplishments of the key female historical figure (The Dinner Party a Tour of the Exhibition). Her art work, The Dinner Party, was enthused by the women's movement and rebellion in opposition to the male-dominated art scene which glorified the modest work of artist like Donald Judd
The Dinner Party exhibition explores four themes which include gender, race, and class and art history. Based on gender theme, the show seems to be focusing on the idea that women have not been embodied all through history, despite the fact that they have made key accomplishments and achievements. The fact that there is an entire wing devoted to feminist art communicates to us that a female appreciated within the Brooklyn Museum. Judy Chicago intention was not only meant to give a definitive female history but also to set up a platform for putting women back into the narrative. This fact shows that the artist was not racist. Chicago also tries to show neglecting of female art in the history.  The theme of art history comes up Cleary since the exhibition is intended to commemorate and celebrate women achievements both mythical and real. The sameness of the flatware and chalice was vital in uniting all of the very different place settings which bring out the theme of the class.
Chicago work address gender, patriarchy and feminism in a very appropriate way. The exhibit tends to set on the table the idea that women have not been embodied all the way through history, even though they have acquired many accomplishments and achievements. Feminist art is highly appreciated by Chicago work within the Brooklyn Museum by the fact that an entire wing is set aside for female art. Since the dinner party is intended to commemorate the lives of influential women right through the history and I believe it is an excellent impact even in the Brooklyn Museum. Her work set a platform that is important to maintain a place for women to their opinion in the society. The medium and the scale used are perfectly suitable to create the right meaning to the audience. For instance, the silverware and cups are just somewhat larger than the human scale which gives a real goddess-like feeling to those names (The Dinner Party A Tour Of The Exhibition). Moreover, the aspect of the plates and the setting is important and allow for an easier read of the art.
I believe the curatorial work add the work of the artist. The curator’s involvement in art work is meant to bring together art anthologies, set around a plan or subject.  Moreover, some of the artists are also curators, and often a curatorial project is initiated in response to events or concerns in the artists' community or with regards to the ideas examined in the artist's practice. Curating enhances acquaintances among other artists as well as art experts, to enlarge thoughts regarding the original work and to generate a discourse in a specific society.
The museum venue is crucial. Based on this exhibition, it is the Museum and Judy Chicago idea for this location to ensure that the piece would be able to stay on view for a long time with less damage. Various deliberations have gone into the putting in place to protect the work, such as the low lighting and the mirrored walls that aid to reflect and make the most of it. There is a big difference in seeing the work itself and a reproduction online or text regarding the impression, meaning or impact of a work. For instance, when a performer does innovative printmaking, people make a printing plate of which a version printed, and the plate does not reproduce a work of art originally formed in some other medium. When the work of art is copied, it is of much less worth compared to the originally produced by the artist, no matter how overestimated the work. Reproduction is the sector where the most propaganda and flat out frauds in the art business have taken place.
The major constituent of The Dinner Party is an inclusive official feast shaped in a triangular form a sign of fairness. Each commemorated personality on the table is separated using intricately embellished runners implemented in history precise method. Every item used in the dinner was set in a style suitable to every represented character.
In conclusion, I believe that the main idea of Chicago was to come up with artwork that connected to the human feeling that expand itself beyond the confines of the art world to cuddle all personalities who remained determined for alternatives in a progressively more dehumanized world. Therefore, the Dinner Party exhibition is necessary to the discussion of art since it brings out the aspect of gender equality.
