Semester Project: Post-Internet Art

For my semester project, I decided to explore the phenomena of Post-Internet Art because of its integration of digital expressiveness and flawless delivery of a new aesthetic. Today, female artists like Petra Cortright and Kate Steciw have collaborated with art technologies such as Photoshop, YouTube and other programs to create iconic art available to viewers. Unlike traditional art, the viewer consumes the artwork by browsing the net, behind a screen. Everyday we engage in online imagery similar to Cortright and Steciw as we scroll social media such as our timelines on Twitter, feeds on Instagram and dashboards on Tumblr. Whether we [Millennials] realize it or not, our heavy digital intake through social media outlets have crafted and engraved an internet state of mind. However, now it is time to sit back and enjoy my zine dedicated to Internet and the art created within it.
