MALE GAZE
John Berger who is an art critic describes male gaze in a form of leftist ideology and did not encourage revering the meaning of paintings. The way in which art is usually constructed to gazes and the depiction of women as possessions is what forms parts of John Berger description. In his essay, “Ways of Seeing” Berger (1972) states "a woman must continually watch herself. She is almost continually accompanied by her own image of herself. Whilst she is walking across a room or whilst she is weeping at the death of her father, she can scarcely avoid envisaging herself walking or weeping" (p.46).  A female painting that is nude serves as an appetite of male desire.Male gaze is increasingly being described as pervasive especially in religious groups and feminist movement. Women are expected to have a good image to accompany them. Female should avoid envisaging themselves irrespective of the environment and John strongly quotes than women appear while men act. More adverts and art that are popular have the women described as object. Naked is articulated as being oneself as nude is popularized as to be seen naked this description has been argued out as the understanding to this concept vary. Nude vs naked concept has been criticized and most of the paintings are based on this relations on gender. Most of the viewers of art in history was pre dominantly males and thus the male gaze. Sexual objectification of the presented example clearly portrays this context. This paintings mostly done by males as a sense of appreciating from a sexual point.

These are pictures from a Tom Passage ad that was pointed towards men, shot by Terry Richardson. This is a case of the male look since they plainly felt that in the event that they set their item before ladies' body parts, it would offer more. Utilizing ladies' sexual attraction increased sales for the company. Tom Portage showcasing group require an approach to stand out enough to be noticed to take a gander at the advertisement and sexual fascination would get their look. Do you think putting a man on the advertisement holding the cologne would get mens consideration? No. Another case would be the Hatchet business that made men crazy by simply taking a gander at the business of ladies saying " I want your bod". Ladies saying I need you in light of their aroma, made men trust that ladies would pursue them; simply like the business depicted.

What is patriarchy?
Bell hooks describes patriarchy as a social system that is political where male are placed as a dominating social beings who are deemed as superior. Everyone else according to Bell hook is stated as weak and this includes the females. Through this system men are privileges this encouraged sexism culture as described in the male gaze. Men in this description are more informed on political mattes and feminism is not a central issue. Male dominance in the patriarchy has greatly changed through time and more females are involved in the politics.  A film that seeks to address the patriarchy models and addresses the negativity portrayed in society through time.  This include patriarchy, sexism and rape culture.
